Carved Crafted Sandwiches to Open Soon at Waterside Place
A new sandwich shop is joining Waterside Place this November. Carved Crafted Sandwiches, from Mark and Carrie Botros and Mark’s brother Peter, will serve hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads, and grab-and-go items.
Carrie, a former local teacher, helped craft a kid-friendly menu featuring twists like pizza grilled cheese and cinnamon-sugar PB&J. The family is inviting community feedback and even running a contest for a chance to win a free sandwich every day for a year.
With seating for about 30, Carved aims to be a warm neighborhood spot built on good food and honest feedback.
Lakewood Ranch Roadwork Rolls On
Drivers in Lakewood Ranch are seeing plenty of orange cones these days as multiple road projects move forward. The roundabout at White Eagle Boulevard and Rangeland Parkway is nearly finished, with final touches expected in early November. Over on Uihlein Road, crews are widening the stretch from State Road 70 to Rangeland Parkway to four lanes, with construction running through late 2025.
Meanwhile, Lakewood Ranch Boulevard will soon get its own upgrade between Malachite Drive and 44th Avenue East, adding lanes and improving drainage. It might be a bit of a headache now, but once complete, these projects are expected to make traffic flow a whole lot smoother.
⭐ Featured Event: Suncoast Food & Wine Fest
The Suncoast Food & Wine Fest is back on November 1st at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, and it's honestly one of the better events we have around here. For $100, you get unlimited tastings from over 30 local restaurants plus all the wine, craft beer, and other drinks you can handle from 1-4 PM — it's a solid deal when you consider what you'd normally pay for that much sampling.
The Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch puts this on every year, and the real story is they've raised over $2.4 million for local nonprofits since they started, so your ticket actually does some good. There's live music, cooking demos, and it's outdoors which is nice once the weather finally breaks.
It typically sells out, and they do a VIP option if you want to get in an hour early and hit the special tent, but general admission gets you everything you need. It's in its 23rd year now, so they've got the whole thing pretty dialed in.
