📰 Local Headline Roundup

No Parking Deal for Seaplace and St. Regis

The Seaplace condo board has officially pulled the plug on a potential parking deal with the new St. Regis resort on Longboat Key. After months of talks, Seaplace voted unanimously to stop negotiations.

The deal would have let St. Regis use Seaplace’s overflow parking lot during big events and high-traffic days. In return, Seaplace residents would have gotten access to valet service and some St. Regis amenities. But concerns about safety, liability, and general skepticism from Seaplace owners led to the decision.

Now, St. Regis will need to rely on its own 430 parking spots and a shuttle system to get guests to and from off-site parking.

Ringling Museum Stays with FSU

The Ringling Museum will continue to be managed by Florida State University, despite a push from some Florida lawmakers to hand it over to the Florida Department of State. The Florida Board of Governors voted unanimously to keep the museum under FSU’s control.

The move to shift management came late in the legislative session and stirred up quite a bit of concern. Supporters of the museum worried that the change could impact its operations, funding, and mission.

In the end, the Board agreed. They emphasized FSU’s strong track record and deep connection to the Ringling’s legacy. For now, the circus stays with the ‘Noles.

A Siesta Key Classic Hits the Market

One of Sarasota’s midcentury gems is now for sale. The Ness House, a 1957 beauty renovated by architect Tim Seibert, just hit the market for $4.25 million. Tucked inside the Sanderling Club on Siesta Key, the home is a striking example of the Sarasota School of Architecture — open, breezy, and built for the Florida lifestyle.

This three-bedroom coastal stunner has terrazzo floors, Cypress ceilings, and huge sliding glass doors that blur the line between inside and out. The new owners will also enjoy the perks of the Sanderling Club.

🔦 Spotlight: Breaking Wave Coffee

If you're downtown and need a quick caffeine fix, Breaking Wave Coffee is a great choice.

It's got a laid-back, coastal vibe inspired by the coffee scenes in Australia and New Zealand. No bells and whistles, just really good coffee.

I stopped in to get some work done and ended up staying longer than I planned. The coffee quality stands out, especially if you’re into the taste details.

Great spot to cool off with an iced coffee or just take a breather. While putting this together, I also learned they offer a coffee cart catering for events if you’re ever hosting something.
