Best Things To Do in SRQ

Late April is doing exactly what it is supposed to do in Sarasota β easy weather, packed evenings, and a weekend lineup that runs from Jerry Seinfeld at the Van Wezel to a tiny pink coffee trailer in Pinecraft. Plenty to get into this weekend.

π§ Think You Know Sarasota? Trivia!
Sarasota is sometimes called "the cradle of American golf" thanks to Scottish-born Colonel John Hamilton Gillespie. In what year did he lay out Florida's first golf course here? |

π° Local Headline Roundup
The Pink Trailer in Pinecraft Is Pulling a Crowd
Houston Run Hitch is a tiny mobile coffee and matcha bar tucked into Pinecraft, run by a young local entrepreneur with family recipes and a serious eye for what looks good in a cup. The drinks are photogenic, the pull is real, and word is the owner is scouting where to plant roots next.
Siesta Beach Is the No. 1 Beach in America Again for 2026
U.S. News and World Report just ranked Siesta the best beach in the country this year, with Anna Maria Island taking third. Two podium spots within a short drive of downtown is a fair reminder that we live where everyone else vacations.
The Driveway Drifters Are Sarasota's Most Wholesome Monday-Night Tradition
A bluegrass-and-classic-rock pickup band has been playing a driveway in The Landings every Monday since the pandemic, drawing 30-plus neighbors a week through the winter season. It is the kind of small, weekly thing that quietly defines a neighborhood.
π¦ Spotlight: Allswell
Out at Waterside Place in Lakewood Ranch, there is a new addition worth a Friday night. Allswell is relatively new on the scene and already feels like the kind of room you want to settle into for a couple hours. The setup splits between an inside dining room and an outdoor patio, both done with enough care that you will probably just pick based on the breeze.
The drink program tells you what a place is about, and Allswell takes its Old Fashioned seriously. There is a whole little lineup of them, from a clean classic build to a smoked version to one infused with banana that is genuinely good and not a gimmick. Worth ordering one of each across two visits.
I liked the the smash burger. The two-patty smash is the move here β crispy edges, the right kind of messy, exactly what you want a kitchen to nail. It comes with a small side salad and tallow fries, all cooked perfectly. The filet is on the menu and it is a perfectly nice plate, just not at the same level as the burger.
One small heads-up: skip dessert. Nothing in that section is worth the calories. Order another Old Fashioned instead.
