$5 Million Boost for Sarasota Orchestra’s New Music Center
Tom and Sherry Koski have pledged $5 million to the Sarasota Orchestra’s planned Music Center, a project that could cost between $375 million and $425 million and will rise on the orchestra’s 32‑acre site on Fruitville Road. Their contribution comes ahead of the formal capital campaign and lifts total gifts to $75 million; Tom Koski, a board member since 2014 and the current chair, is playing a lead role.
Plans call for a campus with an 1 800‑seat concert hall, a 700‑seat recital hall, an education wing, a courtyard, parking and wetlands. Preliminary designs were drawn by Boston’s William Rawn Associates, and vice chair David Green credited the Koskis’ generosity with sustaining the orchestra’s 75‑year tradition and reinforcing Sarasota’s status as an arts hub. Groundbreaking is expected in 2027.
