📰 Local Headline Roundup
Payne Park Townhomes Delayed
That townhome project going up near Payne Park on Washington Boulevard? Here's the update: the 50-unit development is now slated for late 2026, pushed back from fall 2025.
Fort Lauderdale-based PTM Partners is building all rentals (no condos) with two- and three-bedroom units featuring garages. They're also adding two retail spaces facing U.S. 301. Developers are eyeing a café or breakfast spot for one and maybe a wellness tenant for the other.
The Hermitage Scores a $12 Million Gift
The Hermitage Artist Retreat just got a major gift: a 6.5-acre Gulf-to-bay property on Manasota Key, appraised at around $12 million. The Morrison and Steans family donated the land to honor their parents. The property includes five structures originally built by the Vanderbilt family in the early 1950s. The Hermitage will use the extra buildings to expand their artist-in-residence program, where nominated artists, writers, and performers come for multi-week stays to work on new projects.
🔦 Featured Event: Butcher's Block Grand Tent Tasting
Thirteen years running, and this one keeps getting better. The Butcher's Block is doing 100+ wines under the tent again, but here's what caught my eye: every ticket now comes with a $100 wine voucher.
So you're basically paying $75 to drink for three hours, meet the winemakers, and eat bites from Arts & Central, Kolucan, and Demkota Ranch Beef. Plus a Riedel glass and free valet.
It's part of Sarasota's Food and Wine Week. Check it out!
