🍦Winter Elsewhere, Perfect Here

Best Things To Do in SRQ: 1/29 - 2/1

The best part of a Florida winter? Actually wanting to go outside.

Nearly the entire country just got hit with a brutal storm. Weeks like this make me extra thankful for the Suncoast.

Chophouse285 Brings Prime Steaks to Englewood

Olde Englewood Village just got a new dinner destination. Chophouse285 opened this week on Dearborn Street, a 10,000-square-foot steakhouse from the folks behind Farlow's on the Water. By day it's a laid-back lunch spot with tacos and sandwiches; by night, it's all aged steaks, fried Bahamian lobster, and Prohibition-era vibes. The coastal Floridian atmosphere mixes plush velvet seating with salvaged wood details — fancy enough for date night, relaxed enough for the neighborhood.

Anna Maria City Pier Restoration on Track for April

The historic Anna Maria City Pier — originally built in 1911 by Fig Newton inventor Charles Roser and island pioneer Will Bean — is finally getting back on its feet. After taking hits from Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, a $6-7 million restoration is underway, with "substantial completion" expected in April. The pier has been welcoming visitors to the island for over a century, first by steamship and now by foot. We can't wait to see her back.
